It's finally happening!

Highlights- Day One of the Valentine 159 - "In Processing"

Today was a day of lectures and paperwork, with some meet and greets and photo opportunities thrown in for fun.  We spent the day at Main State.  Tomorrow we head to the Foreign Service Institute for 5 weeks of diplomacy training, also called A-100.


Some highlights. . .
One of our instructors went to Penn State and made up a fight song for the foreign service based on the Penn State fight song.  And he sang the song for us (very well, I must add)

Had dinner at a fabulous restaurant on the GW campus.  I highly recommend it ~ Founding Farmers.  FYI- Tower Records is now a CVS drug store.

There are a lot of rules in the FS - some of them are stupid.  That's a quote, not my opinion.

I spent my day with 60 people who are accomplished in their prior careers and will shine as Foreign Service Officers.  I can't wait to get to know everyone and find out how they ended up in the same place I did.

All in all, it was long day filled with learning and paperwork.

Major accomplishment award goes to Finn for behaving all day and not eating my stuff or destroying furniture. Go Finn!
